5. Where do wild purple sea urchins live?
Answer: Bodega Bay, California, United States
Purple sea urchins live in the tide pools and kelp forests of the Pacific coast, including the rocky shore near Bodega Bay in northern California. An urchin grips the rock with its tiny tube feet and scrapes off algae and kelp with its five sharp teeth. In some places, too many urchins have eaten kelp forests down to bare rock, so people are working to protect the kelp.
